University Preparatory School Music Ensembles
Concert Choir is an advanced mixed-voice ensemble of veteran student musicians ranging (typically) from 9th-12th grade. Students in this choir are a group of like-minded singers who are as dedicated to music as they are to each other.
Choraliers is a beginning women's ensemble of young student musicians ranging (typically) from 8th-10th grade. Students in this choir have some experience and are looking to build towards more advanced opportunities in the future.
Mixed Choir is a beginning mixed-voice ensemble of young student musicians ranging (typically) from 6th-7th grade. Students in this choir have limited experience (or no experience at all) but are willing to work on their vocal development.
Jazz Band is an advanced wind ensemble comprised of veteran students musicians ranging (typically) from 8th-12th grade. Students in this band are a dedicated group of friends that meet early in the morning and enjoy treats on Fridays.
Symphonic Winds is an intermediate/advanced wind ensemble comprised of experienced student musicians ranging (typically) from 8th-12th grade. Students in this band have the added benefit of combining with the Symphonic Orchestra to produce a full orchestra experience.
Concert Band is an intermediate wind ensemble comprised of developing student musicians ranging (typically) from 6th-8th grade. Students in this band have some experience and are looking to build towards more advanced opportunities in the future.
Prep Band is a beginning wind ensemble comprised on young student musicians ranging (typically) from 6th-7th grade. Students in this band have limited experience (or no experience at all) but are willing to learn a new instrument.
Drum Corps is a stand-alone percussion ensemble that supports U-Prep's spirit at rallies and football games. No previous musical experience is required.
Chamber Orchestra is a string ensemble designed for the mature and self-motivated string player. The emphasis of this orchestra is on challenging repertoire and advanced music theory concepts aligned with AP music curriculum.
Symphonic Orchestra is a string ensemble designed for mature student musicians. Together with the Symphonic Winds, this ensemble combines to provide students with a full orchestra experience. The emphasis of this orchestra is on challenging repertoire and advanced music theory concepts.
Junior High Orchestra is a string ensemble meant for continuing students in junior high grades. The emphasis of this orchestra is on expanding music skills, repertoire, and music theory elements. Strong music reading skill is highly recommended.
Beginning Strings is a string ensemble meant for students with up to two years of experience (or no experience at all). The emphasis of this orchestra is on basic music skills and note reading using Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass provided by the school.
